Our Story
Contemporary Christian rock band Grandeur creates abundant and powerful melodies and authentic lyrics that speak God’s truth and offer reassurance of the depth of God’s love for all people. Rooted in Blue Springs, Missouri, songwriter and guitarist Jim Grohman, lead singer Chad Toney, bassist Robbie Cairns and drummer/percussionist Casey George combine their diverse life experiences and rich artistic backgrounds to spread the Gospel through vibrant music that speaks God’s truth and resonates with the Bible’s inspiring, hopeful messages. This quartet of believers tell heartfelt, well-crafted stories through layered vocal harmonies and intricate instrumental passages reminiscent of spirit-led artists that deeply move them including Kutless, Jeremy Camp, Mercy Me and Lincoln Brewster.
Grandeur began its journey long before the band members even met. A life-long music fan, Grohman began to expressively sing and play guitar and became an enthusiastic member of praise bands. God gifted him the melody and lyrics to many songs, and he found his life’s musical purpose: To use his gifts and talents to bring God glory. Years and numerous songs later, as he was leaving rehearsal, he shared “That’s Why” with Cairns – who has been playing professionally with renowned rock groups and running record labels for over 30 years – and skilled percussionist George, who both felt that it deeply expressed their personal beliefs. Grohman was friends with experienced, soulful singer Chad Toney whom he had met when Jim joined Chad’s band Not Forgotten. Together they formed Grandeur as four Christian brothers spanning generations, bonded by their common mission to share God’s endless love through their music.
The quartet’s debut full-length album was released February 2014. They then released their second album “Telling The World”. Both albums were recorded with the guidance of Gold record producer/engineer Robert Rebeck. The new “Telling the World” album was mastered by the legendary Steve Corrao at Sage Audio – Nashville TN
"Just listened to your new tracks. All the elements are really well balanced! I hate to just say the old cliché “sounds great," but it does! I especially like the percussion accents in the chorus and the guitar effects. The fact that there is a nice depth and richness (and volume!) to the backing band without it overwhelming the vocals is also refreshing. I feel like for a while the "style du jour" for a lot of bands was to bring the instrumental parts way up in the mix to give them more fullness, but the end result was not being able to hear the vocals or make out the lyrics. “The Grandeur sound” is a breath of fresh air.
